What Are The Different Pallet Sizes?

Wooden Pallets Malaysia come in a variety of sizes and styles, and different industries have different standard sizes for their average pallets. Before there was a one-dimensional standard for pallet production, several different sizes were used. When the standard was first used, this size became the standard for GMA pallets.

In the United States, pallets that meet a popular standard developed by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) account for about 30% of all new wood pallets produced in North America and are dimensioned to accommodate packaged consumer goods. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) have recommended the standard dimensions of the 48 “x 40” pallet in North America since the 1960s for all pallet sizes listed below. In the US industry, the standard size of GMA pallets is 48 “by 40” and weighs 37 lbs and can hold 4,600 lbs.

The 48 “and 40” GMA pallets are the most common sizes and have become the standard for all other common pallets. Standard-sized pallets allow you to use and recycle pallets as long as your industry allows. If your production uses any kind of automation, these pallets mean that there will be no adjustments to different sized pallets.

Standard pallet sizes are important to increase the efficiency and flexibility of the supply chain – for example, different links in the supply chain and conveyor technology can be optimized to handle standard sizes. Having standard pallets of all sizes worldwide is beneficial for trade and industry, and there are many regional and country sizes, but as they become more popular, we can expect the use of any size to die out. For example, different pallet sizes may be required to meet new customers or new trade formats, or to optimize the newly installed warehouse automation.

First, we will look at the pallet types and available dimensions of what most of our UK customers call standard sizes. Remember that there are only six ISO pallet sizes sanctioned by International Material Handling Standards and that there are no standard pallet sizes for many industries that manufacture and use custom pallet sizes for their products. When we asked for standard pallets, our answers confirmed that the exact size of the pallet construction and load capacity of one person (standard) does not match the next.

Wood pallet sizes vary depending on location and use, but the most commonly used pallet sizes are 36 x 36 x 9144mm x 914.8mm, 42 x 42 x 10668mm x 1068.8mm, 48 x 48 x 12192mm x 12192mm and 48 x 40 x 1219.2mm x 1016mm. Stringer pallets are built in sandwich construction, with the top and bottom of the deck separated by stringer boards (2 x 4 inches and 3 x 4 inches) of wood, plastic or metal, depending on the pallet. Stringer pallets can be designed in many sizes and variations but a common size of stringer pallet is a standard GMA pallet of 48 by 40 inches (i.e.

Double leaf pallets are available in standard sizes, while other types are made of wood or plastic. The standard pallet in North America is the GMA Pallet Stringer, a 48-inch deck board that is 40 inches long. It has been standardized by the Association of Food Manufacturers.

With a 35% share of the pallet market, the 48 x 40 GMA pallet comes closest to a standard size. A standard GMA pallet measuring 48 x 40 can hold up to 4,600 lbs. The standard sturdy stringer pallet size list provides the pallet size numbers for the upper and lower deck boards for each stringer resulting in a safe maximum load on average pallet weight.

There are many different standard pallet sizes, but ISO has approved six pallet sizes for worldwide use (the ISO pallet dimension table can be found here), and we have included the various standard pallet sizes available in the most important geographical regions of the world. In short, the true standard pallets are the 48 “and 40” GMA pallets, and although the latter are the most common, they are rarely considered standard sizes.

Now that you know which pallet sizes you can use, the next step is to pick the right pallet shelf solution to support your pallet dimensions and loading weight. Be sure to get the correct pallet dimensions when it’s a standard GMA pallet or another pallet because this determines the dimensions of your pallet shelf. For the EURO pallet type dimensions (W x X L x D) ISO pallet Alternative (EUR) 800mm x 1200mm x 145mm ISO1 Same size as the EUR, but at a price of 1 Euro (3.150 x 4.724 x 571) this pallet has a weight of 20-25 kg.
